History

The Mauna Kea Foundation, Inc. has been created in memory of John Michael Leveroni & Peter John Leveroni, Esquire.
In 2011, Carol and Lon Hocker hired John Mark Leveroni to develop a charitable outreach program for their Mahilani project in Hilo, Hawaii. They generously donated the necessary resources to establish the Mauna Kea Foundation, Inc. as a Hawaii not for profit corporation.
On September 11, 2012; the IRS approved 501 c 3 ‘public charity’ tax exempt status for the Mauna Kea Foundation, Inc. (EIN: 80-0754713).

Mission Statement

The Mauna Kea Foundation, Inc.is joining the fight against a deadly epidemic afflicting The United States today. Childhood obesity and diabetes condemns our children to a lifetime of disease and suffering. These deadly scourges threaten to overwhelm the American health care system within the next two decades. The Mauna Kea Foundation, Inc. is assisting in the creation of school garden nutrition education programs throughout America. On the Big Island of Hawaii, we are assisting The Kohala Center Hawaii Island School Garden Network in developing school garden healthy nutrition education at Haaheo Elementary School, Kalanianaole Elementary Intermediate School and the Kua o ka La Public Charter School.

MAHALO (thank you) for the generosity and KOKUA (help) from the 2012 Charter Members of the Mauna Kea Foundation, Inc. Donor Club. We successfully reached our 2012 donation goal. The Mauna Kea Foundation, Inc. begins its first year working closely with associated schools and organizations, creating nutrition education programs, fighting childhood obesity and diabetes.
