Mauna Kea Foundation, Inc. Donor Letter
Dear Family and Friends,
Recently, a childhood obesity and diabetes epidemic has overtaken the United States. In the next decades, fifty percent of Americans could become obese and many will develop diabetes. Our country must stop this epidemic to prevent the associated medical costs from bankrupting America.
The Mauna Kea Foundation, Inc. is working with teachers, parents and children, developing K-12 nutrition/garden education programs. Our goal is to educate the youth of America about healthy nutrition through teaching students the science of gardening and agriculture. On the Big Island of Hawaii, we are working with local elementary and intermediate schools to create student gardens.
Effective September 11, 2012, The Mauna Kea Foundation, Inc. (Tax ID 80-0754713) has been approved by the Internal Revenue Service as a tax exempt 501(c)(3) public charity. Charitable donations are income tax deductible as of September 6, 2011.
Join us in this worthwhile endeavor, fighting the scourge of childhood obesity and diabetes throughout America. We invite you to become a charter member of the Mauna Kea Foundation Inc. Donor Club.
