School Garden Newsletter

The Mauna Kea Foundation, Inc. is working with local schools on the Big Island of Hawaii and The Kohala Center Hawaii Island School Garden Network developing healthy nutrition education programs.

1. Kalanianaole Elementary and Intermediate School
Donna Mitts of The Kohala Center Hawaii Island School Garden Network is working with teachers, parents and students to create an innovative model school garden healthy nutrition education program.

2. Ha’aheo Elementary School
Chandra Fulton, Mauna Kea Foundation, Inc. School Garden Nutrition Education Coordinator, Maile Kapuniai, MSCP Ha’aheo School Counselor and Donna Mitts of The Kohala Center Hawaii Island School Garden Network are developing an A plus after school garden nutrition education program.

3. Kua o ka La Public Charter School
The Mauna Kea Foundation, Inc. is supporting Kua o Ka La Public School garden nutrition education program and working to create virtual agriculture science programs for high school students.
